【摘要】:Aknowledgeoftheinorganiccompositionofawasteisoftenrequiredfortheselectionofappropriatewastedisposalpractices.Solidwastemayexistinavarietyofformsandcontainarangeoforganicandinorganicconstituents.Thispracticedescribesadigestionprocedurewhichdissolvesmanyofthetoxicinorganicconstituentsandproducesasolutionsuitablefordeterminationbysuchtechniquesasatomicabsorptionspectroscopy,atomicemissionspectroscopy,andsoforth.Therelativelylargesamplesizeaidsrepresentativesamplingofheterogenouswastes.Therelativelysmalldilutionfactorallowslowerdetectionlimitsthanmostothersampledigestionmethods.Volatilemetals,suchasleadandmercury,arenotlostduringthisdigestionprocedure.Hydride-formingelements,suchasarsenicandselenium,maybepartiallylost.Sampleswithtotalmetalcontentsgreaterthan5%maygivelowresults.Theanalystisresponsiblefordeterminingwhetherthispracticeisapplicabletothesolidwastebeingtested.1.1Thispracticedescribesthedigestionofsolidwasteusingnitricacidforthesubsequentdeterminationofinorganicconstituentsbyargonplasmaemissionspectroscopyoratomicabsorptionspectroscopy.1.2Thefollowingelementsmaybesolubilizedbythispractice:aluminummanganeseberylliummercurycadmiumnickelchromiumphosphoruscoppervanadiumironzinclead
